Discover New Music: Top Music Picks for April

Discover new music

Hey there, music lover!

Every time I sit down to write another top music picks to wrap up another month, I can’t help but think about how another month is done! Mental. Anyway, as always, here are my top music picks for the month of April.

April was a challenging month. I can really feel that this year is a year of growth. I’m constantly being pushed out of my comfort zone. I love change because it’s exciting to constantly experience new things, but it’s also very challenging. During April, I was in a slump and was not able to really go out and look for new music. I mostly stuck to the comforts of my favourite songs or songs that were a pick-me-upper. This might sound shocking to some of you: I did not listen to music a lot this month. Anyway, I’m not here to talk about my slump, rather share with you some songs that I hope will make you feel happy!

Come Alive – Hugh Jackman

You’ve probably heard about The Greatest Showman and it lives up to the hype. I had high expectations and the movie did not disappoint. It was such an inspiring movie and the music was so, so good. I love how this song talks about living your dreams; how you feel alive when you live your purpose or do that thing that makes you feel alive. In the end, isn’t that all that we’re looking for anyway? Something that makes us happy and feels like we’re living our purpose?

Made in Hollywood – LANY

This is my ultimate pick-me-upper song. It’s one of my favourite LANY songs. Last April I got to hear it live when they came back to Manila for their first ever back-to-back arena shows. I loved hearing it live. It’s a song that I keep coming back to whether I’m happy or feel like I need a boost in my mood. April was the month where I mainly listened to LANY’s music on repeat.

Bear Claws – The Academic

Bear Claws was the first song I heard from The Academic, and it’s been one of my favourite songs ever since. The chorus is memorable especially if you’ve heard of their Facebook live version. That was pure genius!

Calm – Vistas

This is such an upbeat and catchy song. Opposite to its title, it makes me want to dance and have a solo concert in my room. On the subject of being calm, learning how to relax is something that I’m struggling to learn as I get rattled easily. The simplest of things can get me nervous, so I’ve started meditating to help combat the anxiety, and it’s been helping.

How was your April? Do you have any favourite songs for the month?
