How did you celebrate yours?
Some people love Valentines, others don’t. Some get sad because they don’t have a significant other.
I say, make the most of your day. Show yourself some love! Whether that’s spending time with your family because they make you smile or going on a date for one, do it.
How I spent my Valentines was a bit of both. I spent time my family and then at night, I treated myself to a date with music. I saw one of my college batch mates at the mall a few days before Valentines and our quick conversation went something like this:
Him: Happy Valentines!
Me: Happy Valentines!
Him: Do you have a date?
Me: *to myself: think fast!* Yes.
Him: *looks intrigued*
Me: I have a date….with music!
Him: There you go!
And so, last February 14, I spent Valentines with Savannah Outen and At Sunset at SM Southmall.
Both music acts are YouTube sensations that have garnered thousands of followers all over the globe including Manila. A few days before opening for Boyce Avenue at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, Ovation Productions together with SM, organised a Valentines show. For music fans, there’s no better way to spend Valentines with a love of theirs: music.
I arrived at SM Southmall twenty minutes to show time, and boy, was the crowd super excited! They kept screaming even before Savannah or At Sunset came out. At 6:10, when neither of the two were on stage yet, they even chanted, “6:10, na!” (It’s 6:10 already).
When the emcee of the night emerged on stage wearing red, the crowd went nuts.
In between their short sets, Savannah, and Andrew and Tom of At Sunset, conversed with the host. Of course, for those who lined up to be part of the first hundred, they were able to meet the three artists after the show!
Here’s a photo recap of the show!
